BIOLOC- Biobased and social innovation to revitalise European local communities

RCISD is pleased to announce another winning project. We look forward to working with our partners.

The aim of BIOLOC is to advance the role and impact of biobased and social innovation to revitalise European local communities to accelerate the all-inclusive transition to a resource-efficient and circular biobased production and consumption system. BIOLOC will blend methodological work with circumstantial actions focused in 12 European regions (IT, NL, ES, DE, GR, BG, SK, SL, HR, HU, RO, CZ) that have been selected based on their circular biobased economy (CBE) deployment potentials. BIOLOC identified the following specific objectives as most urgent and attainable through an envisaged set of CSA-actions: i) to raise awareness; ii) to revitalise local economies; iii) to advance inclusive business models; iv) to increase opportunities; v) to valorise knowledge and enhance capacities, and vi) to sustain innovation ecosystems. BIOLOC will address these non-technical challenges from the perspective of local development to elaborate on concepts and solutions that will favour a positive cascading effect on communities by fostering a participatory and inclusive approach to developing resilient innovative biobased activities open to the contribution of socially disadvantaged or marginalized groups. BIOLOC will prompt and drive the establishment of permanent public-private multistakeholder communities-of-practice/deployment HUBS that will pioneer social trialogue on an innovative and inclusive CBE as a leveraging factor for sustainable and resilient local development in the broader context of the New Green Deal. The extensive awareness-raising and outreach activities that will address the wider population, including the socially disadvantaged/ marginalized groups, will allow bringing an ancillary contribution to the expected impact of more informed and engaged stakeholders and endusers, including primary producers and consumers.
