Studies: She graduated  at the Agricultural University Gödöllő  (GATE) in 1989  as agronomist and english translator.

Career: Worked a short time in an SME as researcher and translator. Married, brought up six children, manages the family life. Since 2006 she has been taking part int he local politics as local government representative. Since 2010 she has been working  on USZT projects. In 2011 she founded the Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development Ltd. (RCISD), where she works as managing director and coordinator.


Kardon, Béla

Mr Béla Kardon was born in Budapest on May 2, 1964.

Career: From 1989 till 1997 he worked as a Scientist at the Gödöllő University (GATE),
from 1997 till 2001 as Attaché for Science & Technology at the Hungarian Embassy in Bonn.
In 2001 he joined the Hungarian Ministry of Education (OM) as Program Director for
International Bi-lateral R&D Cooperation. In this position he was responsible for the bilateral
activities and the respective funding programs with 30 Countries. In 2004 he took office as
Head of Unit for Key Technologies, responsible for the National Strategic Reference Frame
(NSRF; GOP: Operational Programme for Economic Development, part Research &
Innovation) in the National Office for Research & Technology (NKTH). In 2007 he became
Senior Scientist and Program Manager at Collegium Budapest, Institute for Advanced Study,
in 2009 Senior Scientist and International Expert in the Institute for Applied
Telecommunication Technologies of the Bay Zoltán Foundation for Applied Research. 2002 –
2003 he was Invited lecturer at the College of International Management and Business of the
Budapest Business School, 2008 – 2010 Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Science, since
2013 invited lecturer at the Károli Gáspár University. In September 2010 he became Head of
the Department for Science Policy in the new formed Ministry of National Resources. In this
position he was responsible for governmental science policy and the planning of the higher
education development part of the Structural Funds in Hungary. Since 2015 Dr Kardon is
Chief Scientific Officer at the Regional Centre for Information & Scientific Development Ltd.

Buday, Zita

Senior International Expert

Studies: Ms Zita Buday studied international business communication in English and German at the College for Foreign Trade Budapest and received her BSc in 1980. In 1986 she spent a trimester at the Universitá per Stranieri Perugia, studying economy and cultural history in Italian. Between 2006 and 2011 she attended several project management trainings organized by Via Donau Austria, focusing on transnational projects. In 2015 she completed a training course on intellectual property protection at the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office.

Career: From 1980 till 1992 she worked as foreign trade assistant at Hungagent Ltd. From 1992 till 1999 she was executive assistant and head of office at Rexfilm Ltd., a joint venture company of SONY Broadcast.
From 1995 till 2005 she worked as freelance translator and interpreter.
In 2005 she joined VITUKI Environmental Protection and Water Management Research Institute where she was responsible for the coordination and management of EU-funded research projects focusing on Danube navigation, in the frame of Interreg IIIB, SEE, TEN-T, FP7 funding programmes.
From 2013 to early 2016 she worked as senior project manager at the Research Centre for Natural Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, dealing with European grant schemes (H2020, Interreg, COST, ERA-Net, etc.) as well as with American and other research funds’ grants. She was also RCNS’ coordinator for IPR affairs.
She joined RCISD as senior international expert in 2016, being responsible for the ENER2I and the Black See Horizon projects, as well as for the management of the CEBRABIC project. She is also supporting the Danube-INCO.NET project.


Merza, András

During high school, he completed an ethical business and management training within the framework of the M.I.C.E. American-Hungarian Foundation Inc. In the summer of 2019, through the Erasmus+ Programme he volunteered at the Don Bosco House in Rijswijk, in the Netherlands, where he worked with local and refugee children. In 2019, he started his university studies at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, majoring in International Studies. In 2023, he successfully completed his Master’s degree in European Development Programme Management at the National University of Public Service.

He joined the RCISD team in august 2020. Currently, he is the project leader of the Researchers’ Nigh project (FAWORIT 2022-2023 and FAWORIT 2024-2025) and STEAMCRAFT project beside he is supporting also the Inclusion4Schools’ communication & dissemination WP, BIOLOC and ENRICH in LAC ENRICH in the USA projects. András is also developing several Erasmus+ projects with a wide range of partners. He is interested in sustainable development, science diplomacy and AI.


Szuromi, Barbara

Ms. Barbara Szuromi holds an MA in English and Italian Literature and Language Teaching. Additionally, she graduated from the University of Miskolc, Faculty of Economics, specializing as an Expert in Regional Development.

With over two decades of professional experience, Ms. Szuromi has primarily focused on managing projects funded by the European Union, particularly in the healthcare and education sectors. She has served as a project manager for a diverse range of public initiatives, including those supported by Hungarian operational programs, as well as H2020, Interreg, and Culture programs.

Ms. Szuromi’s portfolio includes projects such as “Generating Trust through Culture in Multi-ethnic Environments” and “Inclusion4Schools,” a Horizon 2020 initiative aimed at addressing school segregation.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Szuromi actively volunteers for various NGO projects. She has also served as a junior expert in a European Commission Twinning program for three years and spent a year at the European Parliament Secretariat, contributing to the Committee on Environment, Public Health, and Consumer Policy.


Kormos, Fruzsina

Fruzsina Kormos was born in 2000. In 2019, she started her university studies at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University, majoring in International Studies with Spanish Studies as a minor. She joined the RCISD team in March 2022 as a trainee. She has supported the Researchers’ Night and the Inclusion4Schools projects.


Horzsa, Gergely

Gergely Horzsa, PhD graduated at ELTE University as sociologist in 2013 (degree grade: excellent). In the same year, he received 1st prize for his lecture at the biannual Hungarian Scientific Student’s Conference (‘OTDK’). He gained a doctorate in sociology in 2021 at Corvinus University of Budapest (degree grade: summa cum laude). His thesis included the multi-method analysis of impacts of development subsidies, with the inclusion of research fields such as the sociology of migration and ruralities, work and labour market, economic development and innovation, education, local governance, sustainability and SMEs. Further fields of interest of his iclude social science methodologies such as surveys, interview techniques, anthropological methods, social network analysis and GIS methods. In the previous decade, he held university courses (in both English and Hungarian) on survey methodology, SNA methods, fieldwork techniques, environmental sociology and local development. His research were also acknowledged by awards of the Hungarian New National Excellence Programme and by a 4-month research scholarship at Indiana University, U.S., by Julius Rezler Foundation. Currently, he works as research fellow at HUN-REN Institute for Sociology. With expertise in development project management, he joined RCISD in 2022 as research fellow.


Krasztev, Péter

Péter Krasztev (b. 1965) is a social scientist, literary historian and translator, Associate Professor at Budapest Business School (Department of Communication). After receiving his Ph.D. in 1995 he published three edited volumes, one monograph on Central-East European Literary Symbolism (1995) and a collection of studies on film, anthropology and literature (in Hungarian, Bulgarian, Macedonian and Russian). His anthropological documentary movies have been screened on numerous TV channels in Europe. In the last two decades he lectured among others at the CEU, ELTE, METU (all three Budapest), Comenius (Bratislava); EKF (Eger). He worked as an International Expert for an EU social support project in Belgrade for two years, and later was employed by the Ministry of Culture as a director of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Bratislava. Since 2015 he is a regular expert for Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+  programmes. From the fall of 2020 he works on the Inclusion4Schools project as a Scientific Advisor.


Grosschmid, Péter

Studies: He studied Chemistry at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (ELTE) Faculty of Science (TTK), received his MSc in 1974.

 Career: Mr. Grosschmid started his career at the Publishing House of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as editor of scientific publications. Later he was a research fellow at the Institute of Science Management and  Informatics, then became technical secretary to the CEO of Gedeon Richter pharmaceutical company. From 1985 he took the position of sales manager of CompuDrug Ltd. From 1990 till 1993 he worked as commercial  officer at the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Budapest. From 1993 to 1997 and from 2001 to 2006 he was science and technology counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Helsinki, Finland. Between  the two postings he was the director of communications of the National Committee for Technological Development (government agency) and communications adviser to the President of the Hungarian Patent Office.  Since 2007 as CEO of TP ImageWorks he has taken part in the work of several international conferences coordinating media activities. Currently he is the press officer the Researcher Night project.

Ms Margit Erb graduated at Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary in 2017 as a Teacher of English Literature and Culture and a Teacher of Hungarian as a foreign language at Master of Art degree. As an Erasmus exchange student she spent one semester at Bradford College in the United Kingdom participating in the Teacher Training Program of the College. She got her Batchelor’s Degree from English Studies with Dutch Studies as a minor in 2011. Her interests include international communication, supporting, and foreign affairs in general.

She joined RCISD as a trainee in 2016 and worked on the IncoNet CA and the SEA-EU-NET 2 projects. Since 2017 she is supporting the implementation of the InnoMedia project, the EaP PLUS Project, the European Night of Researchers as an international expert. From 2018 she is responsible for the Enrich in the USA project and the project manager of the European Researchers’ Night in Hungary. From 2020, she is implementing the Inclusion4schools project.

Studies: Mrs Ilona Udvardyné Balásházy graduated at Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Science in 2006 as a certified Teacher of Biology and Ecology. She wrote her thesis about noise measurement and noise mapping.
Career: From 2007 she worked at Trenecon Ltd., where her main tasks were to prepare proposals for EU funded projects, as well as to evaluate and manage projects. She joined the Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development Ltd. (RCISD) in February 2016, where she participates in proposals writing for Széchenyi2020 tenders and in the project of ENER21-Energy Research to Innovation.
