RI-LINKS2UA – Strengthening Research and Innovation Links towards Ukraine
The overall aims of the project entitled ‘Strengthening Research and Innovation Links towards Ukraine’ (abbr. RI-LINKS2UA) are to further support and enhance the integration of Ukraine to the European Research Area (ERA) by providing tailor-made structural, systemic and operational Research and Innovation (R&I) support measures. The EU – Ukraine STI policy dialogue supported by RI-LINKS2UA can draw from targeted analytical evidence to contribute to improving the framework conditions for further EU – Ukraine STI cooperation as well as to enhance and promote Ukraine’s cooperation in Horizon 2020.
Core Objectives of RI-LINKS2UA
- Objective 1: to further support and stimulate the policy dialogue on research and innovation between EU and Ukraine to enable a firm integration of Ukraine into the European Research Area (ERA) by identifying remaining obstacles, drivers and opportunities through analytical evidence and tailor-made policy advice.
- Objective 2: to systematically contribute to the establishment of structural supportive framework conditions in the field of research and innovation to enhance and stimulate the R&I cooperation between the EU and Ukraine.
- Objective 3: to further encourage and facilitate cooperation between research actors from the EU and Ukraine through a set of supportive R&I measures and by promoting EU-Ukrainian participation in joint projects in Horizon 2020 and other EU funded programmes.
Operational sub-objectives of RI-LINKS2UA
- Operational sub-objective 1: Contributing to the improvement of the framework conditions to strengthen and enhance the R&I cooperation between EU and Ukraine
RI-LINKS2UA supports the further integration of Ukraine into the European Research Area (ERA) through identification of obstacles, drivers and opportunities based on analytical evidence as well as by circumspect and sound policy advice including the provision of targeted recommendations.
- Operational sub-objective 2: Providing an operational tailor-made support to policy dialogue
RI-LINKS2UA aims to provide a flexible, practical and operational tailor-made STI policy support to the European Commission through analytical evidence.
- Operational sub-objective 3: Strengthening innovation capacity and economic competitiveness
RI-LINKS2UA strengthens the economic competitiveness by focusing on knowledge transfer on innovation support measures (e.g. bridging the gap between research results and exploitation, smart specialisation strategies, raising awareness on financing value chain for supporting companies) including practical advice on their application in Ukraine as well as to facilitate the internationalisation of Ukrainian industrial clusters to intensify cooperation with EU business clusters.
- Operational sub-objective 4: Stimulating and promoting the R&I cooperation between EU and Ukraine
RI-LINKS2UA facilitates, encourages and promotes the participation of Ukrainian EU R&I stakeholders in joint projects in Horizon 2020.
- Operational sub-objective 5: Contributing to the governance of Ukrainian participation in Horizon 2020
RI-LINKS2UA aims to contribute to effective governance of the Ukrainian participation in Horizon 2020.
