The European Interest Group (EIG) for Japan was established in December 2014 as a flexible platform for communication among STI agencies in European countries and Japan that are interested in cooperating together.

It is an informal network that comprises several organisations that participated in the FP7 ERA-NET CONCERT-Japan Project. As a continuation of the already finished project, the cooperation endevaours to provide a framework for future cooperation.

Therefore, a Joint Call Preparatory Meeting will take place in Budapest, Hungary on 10 September, 2015 co-organised by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development and (RCISD). The main goal is to bring together the core CONCERT-Japan partners having participated in the original ERA-NET project activities and proactively contribute to moving forward in the next phase of collaboration: a third joint call.
