ener2i Workshop on Energy and Innovation, and Brokerage Event in Yerevan, Armenia [event review]

On 2 October 2015, the ener2i project organised a Workshop on Energy and Innovation and a Brokerage Event in Yerevan, Armenia. Both ener2i events were embedded in the Sixth International Renewable and Clean Energy Conference and Exhibition (2-3 October 2015), which gathered around 150 participants from Armenia, EU Member States, Eastern Partnership (EaP) and Central Asian countries, and countries associated to Horizon 2020.

The main aim of the workshop was to provide state of the art information on energy and innovation issues as well as facilitating the knowledge transfer from academia to business, raising awareness of commercialisation instruments for research organisations, start-ups and SMEs, and innovation agencies. The following topics were coverd: innovation in renewable energy and the situation in Germany, innovation policy, energy efficiency in housing, and bioresource utilisation for energy.

In the afternoon the ener2i Innovation Voucher Competition Armenia Award Ceremony 2015 took place. Innovation Vouchers serve to stimulate cooperation between companies and research institutions. The six Innovation Vouchers proposals selected for funding were awarded. The award ceremony was organised by ener2i partners Technology Transfer Association and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, and Centre for Social Innovation from Austria.

The Award Ceremony was followed by the ener2i Brokerage Event, which gathered 45 registered attendants (see Catalogue). The Brokerage event enhanced the cooperation between research organisations and businesses, and for establishing direct contacts and partnerships between Armenian and foreign academic and business representatives, especially those from the EU and EaP countries. This part of the agenda was therefore dedicated to face2face meetings and networking.

The ener2i events were linked to the UN Sixth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, held on 29 September – 2 October 2015 also in Yerevan. The ener2i project was presented at the UN conference (link).
