Pre-Announcement: Spring 2018 Match & Pitch Event

European entrepreneurs, researchers, or university/private lab Technology Transfer officials are welcome to apply to present their products, services or intellectual property at the ENRICH in the USA’s Spring 2018 Match & Pitch Event.

Selected innovators will be provided matchmaking opportunities with representatives from at least thirty different corporations and investors in the energy & environment, healthcare, or defense & homeland security sectors.

Participants will have the chance to pitch about their companies or technology, and get feedback from these potential customers/investors.

This Event will be held in conjunction with the 32nd International Conference on Business Incubation in Dallas, Texas, USA, and hosted on April 25, 2018.

ENRICH

Pre-Announcement: Research Commercialization Bootcamp

ENRICH in the USA organizes two-week Boot Camps in the United Sates and provides participants with perspectives on their market in various US regions. All Boot Camp participants will start and end the program in Boston where they will receive an introductory course in “Conducting Business in the US” and engage in unique networking opportunities with local innovation experts. In between, participants will be hosted for up to 10 days by a certified Soft Landing site in the US which will provide programming/services especially themed to the various industry sectors and matched to the needs of each applicant.

In preparation for the Boot Camps, a pre-departure workshop will be provided to ensure the participants to make the most of their two weeks in the US.

This call will fund 10 participants for the Research Commercialization (RC) Bootcamp in October 2018.

The costs for the venue, materials, guest speakers and some meals are covered via grants provided by ENRICH in the USA to selected participants.

Participants will however have to cover the costs for flights to and from the United States, their hotel accommodations, most meals, travel within the United States as well as other costs not mentioned above (e.g. ESTA/VISA application costs, health insurance, etc.).

Target Group and Eligibility Criteria

ENRICH in the USA is looking for competitively selected EU Research & Innovation (R&I) actors that are in the early stages of commercializing EU research and have either technology development and/or business opportunities in the US.

  • Early stage start-up founders spun out of universities or research labs or licensing related technologies
  • Researchers looking for market opportunities and funding for their R&D project
  • Established pre-revenue start-ups

In order to qualify for the provided service, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

  • If an individual, applicant must be a tax payer in an EU Member State or Associated Country (EU MS/AC) AND/OR be an EU MS/AC passport holder
  • If incorporated, applicant must pay taxes in an EU MS/AC AND/OR have as the majority of shareholders EU MS/AC passport holders
  • Be able to communicate (read and speak) in English;

Pre-Announcement: East Coast Innovation Tour

ENRICH in USA is launching its first East Coast Innovation Tour as vehicle for commercializing promising EU research and technologies. This call is open to early stage entrepreneurs, researchers, research organizations and clusters based in the EU Member States or Horizon 2020 Associated Countries, looking for market information, partners, investment opportunities and feedbacks for their life science innovations, special focus on innovations in cancer research, diagnostics and treatments, and drug discovery.

During this Innovation tour, 10 EU R&I actors that are in the process of commercializing innovative EU research through new business ventures will be introduced to university innovation centers, accelerators, investors, and the overall R&I ecosystem located across US North East cities. The tour includes guidance to the EU participants on the US business climate, visa/immigration support and potential introductions to customers/partners.

This call will fund 10 participants for the US East Coast Innovation Tour mid-June 2018.

The costs for the venues, guest speakers, local transportation and lunches are covered via grants provided by ENRICH in the USA to selected participants.

Participants will however have to cover the costs for flights to and from the United States, their hotel accommodations, meals (except lunches) as well as other costs not mentioned above (e.g. ESTA/VISA application costs, health insurance, etc.).

Eligibility Criteria

ENRICH in the USA is looking for individual research actors fromEU Member States or Associated Countries (EU MS/AC) who are highly interested in exploring the US market as middle to long-term vehicle for commercializing promising EU research:

  • Early stage start-up founders spun out of universities or research labs or licensing related technologies
  • Researchers looking for market opportunities and funding for their R&D project
  • Representatives of a research organization looking for market opportunities for a specific portfolio of R&D projects
  • Representatives of research ecosystems looking for market opportunities for a specific portfolio of R&D projects; including cluster managers, research lab managers, tech transfer office managers, etc.

In order to qualify for the provided service, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

  • If an individual, applicant must be a tax payer in an EU MS/AC AND/OR be an EU MS/AC passport holder
  • If incorporated, applicant must pay taxes in an EU MS/AC AND/OR have as the majority of shareholders EU MS/AC passport holders
  • Be able to communicate (read and speak) in English;

Target Group and Eligibility Criteria

Small to medium competitive enterprises incorporated in the EU Member States or Associated Countries (EU MS/AC) that are post-revenue and are interested in commercialization in the United States are encouraged to apply.

In order to qualify for the provided service, applicants have to meet the following requirements:

  • If an individual, applicant must be a tax payer in an EU MS/AC AND/OR be an EU MS/AC passport holder
  • If incorporated, applicant must pay taxes in an EU MS/AC AND/OR have as the majority of shareholders EU MS/AC passport holders
  • Be able to communicate (read and speak) in English
  • The company should have some track record in their own markets, and where it has been tested that the solution/technology is ready and working
  • The company must have some form of “tangible assets” – have secured at least one piece of intellectual property (either internally generated or licensed from another entity) and/or have an inventory of product.

Pre-Announcement: Research Connection Symposium (RCS)

This Symposium will be the first ENRICH in the USA Research Connection Symposium. Inconnection to the National Council of University Research Administrators’ (NCURA) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. (August 5-8, 2018), this symposium aims at connecting EU researchers and research administrators to U.S. researchers and research administrators to collaborate on the prospect for joint research endeavours. This symposium will provide a platform where EU researchers can present their work and define their research needs to potential US partners, while their research managers and administrators will be able to provide insights on the next step of working together and if there will be viable funding and channels for the collaboration. This event will feature 3-minute pitch sessions, funding agency briefings, and research match-making.

This call will fund 20 entities for the Research Connection Symposium in August 2018.

The costs for some part of participants’ travel and accommodation will be covered by travel grants provided byENRICH in the USA to selected participants.

Participants will however have to cover the remaining costs for flights to and from the United States, their accommodations, meals, as well as other costs (e.g. ESTA/VISA application costs, health insurance, etc.).

Target Group and Eligibility Criteria

  • Research Manager and Researchers from European research institutes, universities, and national academies of science.Research managers that apply together with at least one of their researchers are highly recommended to apply.

In order to qualify for the provided service, applicants have to:

  • If an individual, the applicant must be a tax payer in an EU Member State or Associated Country (EU MS/AC) AND/OR be an EU MS/AC passport holder.
  • If incorporated, applicant must pay taxes in an EU MS/AC AND/OR have as the majority of shareholders EU MS/AC passport holders.
  • Be able to communicate (read and speak) in English
