Event review Danube-INCO.NET 2nd Stakeholders Workshop

The second Danube-INCO.NET Stakeholders Workshop took place in Ulm on 30 November 2015 in frame of the 4th Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region that brought together research and innovation policy stakeholders in the Danube Region and to provide a forum for discussion among invited stakeholders.

Under the title Paving the way for joint actions in the Danube Region: Sharing good practices and identifying synergies in research and innovation support the workshop had a special focus on research and innovation support, therefore addressing two of the EUSDR priority areas: PA 7 „Knowledge Society” and PA 8 „Competitiveness”.

The aim of the event was, among others, to disseminate and discuss the results of the report on “Mapping of stakeholders”. Following the presentation of the report, invited stakeholders were asked to share their ideas in the form of 3 minutes long elevator speeches. Stakeholders represented various projects, initiatives, research organisations, innovators, regional and international organizations dealing with R&I, national ministries from the Danube region or beyond (including JRC, DCCA, Danubiz, EEN, Steinbeis Danube Centre, OECD, etc.). Presentations focused on good practices and means to promote dialogue within the triple helix on the one hand; on the other hand to find the ways of reinforcing this kind of cooperation along the Danube River.

Others from the audience were invited to react and provide short ad-hoc inputs regarding statements about the dialogue activities/synergies/approaches to triple helix dialogue. Various aspects and possibilities of a reinforced cooperation along the triple helix axis were raised and stakeholders agreed on the importance of mutual collaboration in the field partly along the existing and partly along possible new initiatives and funding instruments. The need more efficient exchange of information among the different stakeholders were also underlined. All in all more than 50 attendants participated on the workshop.
